Physical Education & Health
Physical Education
Description (Grade 9):
The program of physical education offers the students diverse opportunities that will contribute to the student’s overall development. It is important at this level to introduce and acquaint the student with the total field of physical education and its future value. Carry-over and recreational lifetime activities are stressed throughout the year. Team sports such as flag football, basketball, volleyball, pillow polo, soccer, and speedball are played. Knowledge and understanding of these activities are important even if a student does not become highly skilled – at least he/she can become an interested and knowledgeable spectator. Intramural activities are also stressed throughout their four-year high school career. Individual fitness is promoted through activities such as tennis, tennis handball, jump aerobics, cross-country, and pickle-ball.
