Technology
Hardware
The John Carroll School is equipped with two dedicated computer labs. The labs consist of 18 and 24 student workstations and an instructor workstation. Students also have computer access in the Language lab (26 workstations), the Library Classroom (16 workstations) and the Library (8 workstations) and 3 dedicated card catalog computers. All classrooms have an internet connection. We have over 30 LCD projectors and all full-time faculty received Tablet PCs in May 2005.
Software
On the software side, all students have a network folder accessible from any student computer. This allows the student to save work that will not fit on a floppy with the need to return to the same computer to continue working. All lab and library computers are running WindowsXP and Microsoft Office. In addition to the tape machines, the language lab has new interactive language software for all languages. The library subscribes to several online research databases and turnitin.com, a plagiarism checking device.
Power School
Parents have the capability of accessing their student’s academic information. Assignments, grades and attendance information are accessible. Teachers generally update grades in PowerSchool bi-weekly.
