John Carroll Assistance Committee (JCAC)
The purpose of the John Carroll Assistance Committee (JCAC) is to identify and assist students who are reported to be “at risk,” meaning there is a concern for a student’s health or safety. Eating disorders, depression, family or peer difficulties, or substance use are examples of issues that may prompt intervention by the committee. The committee’s primary obligations are to promote the welfare and respect the privacy of identified students. The process is, therefore, confidential. All members of the John Carroll School community, especially students and parents, are welcome to make referrals to JCAC. JCAC is NOT connected to the discipline system. However, JCAC cannot protect a student from the discipline system when he/she makes choices which bring disciplinary action.
