Business Teacher

Service-Learning Coordinator
The School is currently seeking a full-time, 10-month, Service-Learning Coordinator for the 2024-2025 school year.
The Service-Learning Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all service-related activities within the School. This position collaborates with and is supervised by the Director of Mission & Ministry. The Office of Mission & Ministry is responsible for promoting the Mission of the John Carroll School and providing a quality campus ministry and pastoral care program to students, faculty, staff, parents and other members of the John Carroll community. As a representative of The John Carroll School, the employee is expected to support and carry out the School’s Catholic mission.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate with students and parents about possible service opportunities.
- Maintain and approve Student Service Hours via the Mobile Serve App
- Communicate with students who are deficient in completing service hours and support them in finding service opportunities
- Maintain, foster and develop relationships with different service agencies in the Harford County and larger Baltimore area to know how the John Carroll community may respond to their needs
- Coordinate mission-focused charity drives such as Thanksgiving Food Drive, the Christmas Outreach Program, Catholic Schools Week and Patriots Week drives, etc.
- Schedule and coordinate school-sponsored service experiences, service days or class-wide service days as directed by the administration
- Work with faculty, staff and coaches to incorporate service learning into the student experience
- Develop a Student Service-Learning Placement Program that places students in a Service Agency that serves a vulnerable or marginalized population to be integrated into the Religion Department’s Catholic Social Teaching Curriculum
- Provide support to the Academic Council and Religion Department to develop Service-Learning integration in the curriculum
- Schedule and coordinate the Sophomore Service Retreat program, facilitate Sophomore Retreat Days in collaboration with the Associate Campus Minister for Student Ministries and recruit chaperones where appropriate
- Develop Student Servant Leaders through moderating the Romero Service Club & the Archbishop John Carroll Service Honor Society
- Create and supervise a Service-Learning Resource Center for students
- Collaborate with the Director of Mission & Ministry to assist with the Freshman Orientation & Retreat experiences
- Collaborate with the Director of Mission & Ministry to train and supervise Student Peer Ministers
- Coordinate and implement School-sponsored Service Immersion Trips, both domestic and international
- Serve as a member of the School’s Campus Ministry Team
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in theology, ministry or relevant field; advanced degree preferred

- Previous ministry or service project/volunteer training and supervision experience in a Catholic School or parish preferred

Director of the Fund for John Carroll
The Director of the Fund for John Carroll is primarily responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive, year-round fundraising plan for the Fund for John Carroll, the foundation of the School’s annual giving initiatives. The fundraising plan will include goals, strategies and programming that aim to build and engage the School’s donor base, and ultimately lead to the success of the annual fund campaign. This position reports directly to the Chief Advancement Officer.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the Fund for John Carroll
- Plan and lead the annual giving campaign to meet the school’s fundraising goals
- In collaboration with the CAO and Director of Parent & Alumni Engagement, create and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan for the Fund for John Carroll
- Set and track dollar, participation and qualitative goals for the Fund
- Create and manage a multidimensional appeal schedule to communicate with potential and current donors
- Create and implement strategies to achieve Fund goals, including creating online giving forms and setting up GiveCampus campaigns
- Collaborate with colleagues in Advancement and Marketing offices to design the strategy, theme/messaging and timeline to increase revenue for the Fund and increase the percentage of constituent participation
- Oversee all aspects of a comprehensive annual giving program including cultivation and solicitation schedules, direct mail campaigns, phonathon and special events
- Effectively manage an assigned portfolio of key donors with the goal of stewarding current and prospective donors to a point of increase annual giving
- Work with the Marketing team to develop all fundraising materials and publications in support of the annual campaign
- Develop and oversee all donor recognition and acknowledgement programs
- Work with Data Specialist to ensure effective administration of Fund gifts through acknowledgement letters, recognition of donors in the annual Giving Report, and the delivery of any necessary reports and communications, such as pledge reminders, to appropriate constituents
- Utilize Veracross andDonorPerfect to track visits, produce contact notes, and conduct appropriate constituent follow-up
- Attend and assist in planning and management of select events, as necessary
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications

- Experience with Veracross (or similar donor management software) required

- Motivate students to improve individually and contribute to team improvement.
- Assist in communicating with parents and the community to promote this sport and The John Carroll School.
- Promote safety within all aspects of the program.
- Follow all MIAA rules and regulations.
- Assist in coaching and instruction that upholds the values and ideals of the Catholic Church and is in alignment with the mission of The John Carroll School.
- Be committed to self-improvement and professional development.
- Attend pre-season and post-season meetings.
- Instill and promote the positive culture and foundational values of the Athletics Department.

- Attend pre-season and post-season meetings, practices and games.
- Assist with practice plans, scouting and video breakdown.
