Washington and Lee University senior Katie Yurechko '20 was named the 2024 Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Leader of the Year in academics and research! Katie will receive a post-graduate scholarship through ODK’s 2024 General Russell E. Dougherty National Leader of the Year competition. Each year, ODK recognizes six outstanding student leaders as National Leaders of the Year, including in each of the five pillars of campus life celebrated by ODK: academics and research, athletics, service to campus and community, communications, and creative and performing arts. She was named the university’s first Marshall Scholar in December 2023, and will now pursue a master’s degree in social science of the internet at the University of Oxford, followed by a master’s degree in computer science at University College London.

Ally Carey Grieninger '08 was recently inducted into yet another Hall of Fame! Ally is now a member of the the Harford County Historical Society Hall of Fame's  inaugural class. Among her many accolades, Ally had an incredible high school career as a Patriot and went on to become a 3x All-American at Vanderbilt University, as well as earn four Gold Medals as a member of the All-World Lacrosse team for USA.

Jake Hollin '92, Assistant Principal and recipient of the 2024 Andrew P. Klein Peace & Justice Award, embarked on a transformative journey earlier this summer, touring the southeastern United States to explore key civil rights landmarks from the 1950s–1970s. The grant funds made this unique learning experience possible, allowing him to gain deeper insight into the fight for civil rights and social justice.

Qadir Ismail '18 made the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad as a wide receiver! Before playing for Villanova and Samford, he was a member of the Football and Basketball teams, and ran Track & Field for the Patriots. At John Carroll, he tallied 2,000 passing yards, 500 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns.

Nearly 10 years after their first Homecoming date, Brad Smith '15 returned to John Carroll to ask Carly Lyon '16 the most important question of all: “Will you marry me?” We couldn’t be happier for these two are thrilled that JC played such a special role in their love story!

The New York Times published "Cait Bailey Can't Avoid the Spotlight." The article highlights Cait Bailey '07, a publicist and brand strategist who runs the New York office of Align Public Relations. Despite her preference for staying out of the spotlight, her high-profile clients such as Zayn Malik, Alex Cooper and Alix Earle thrust her into the public eye. Cait's career in public relations helps her clients navigate their public personas, often working behind the scenes to coordinate events, deals and sponsorships. Her success came from building connections and fostering genuine relationships with both clients and industry insiders.

While her initial life plans to "return to Baltimore’s suburbs, marry a lacrosse player and raise children who would go to the same private Catholic school that she attended" didn't come to fruition, Cait is making a major name for herself in the industry! Read the article.

Taiylor Kriss '17 is a resilient advocate and ambassador for the American Association of Kidney Transplants. She was diagnosed with Alport Syndrome, a rare genetic disease characterized by progressive kidney disease and abnormalities of the inner ear and eye, at just 18-months-old. Taiylor has navigated health challenges her entire life, including kidney failure at 22, followed by a kidney transplant days before her 24th birthday. Today, Taiylor empowers others to be their own health advocates by encouraging them to pursue access to the best healthcare and living life to the fullest. Read more.

Larry Noto '94 reconnected with Sister Pat Mensing and Sister Marie Gregory! Larry says, "Sister Pat, who guided me through my spinal nerve surgery at age 15, talked "Seinfeld" after class each Friday. Sister Marie Gregory got me into acting and public speaking... Behind every person is an army of people who helped shaped them."

Jake Dengler '16, defender for the South Georgia Tormenta FC, was named the team's Player of the Match versus Miami FC at the end of April. The Tormenta FC faces the Charleston Battery on May 8 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32!

Klein’s Family Markets Community Relations and Front-End Operations Director Sarah Klein '01 was elected to the Harford County Public Library Foundation’s board of directors for a three-year term. She says, “I’m always grateful for the opportunity to give back to my community. I’m a proud Harford County resident and the library foundation’s impact on the community cannot be understated." Sarah has a long history of involvement with similar charitable boards including her current term on The John Carroll School's Board of Trustees. Read more.

Gianna Romero '23, advocate for mental health and wellness in athletics, is named Miss Bel Air Independence Day 2024 and will go on to compete for title of Miss Maryland! Gianna was chosen through an interview process from interested applicants, and succeeds Giovanna Ward '21, Miss Bel Air 2023. Gianna will serve as official hostess in one of the region’s largest 4th of July celebrations. ​Gianna says, ​“As an athlete, instructor and community volunteer, I'm devoted to teaching youth and athletic staff about the importance of mental health and wellness in athletics. Zach Thornton '91 will be the first goalkeeper inducted into the Chicago Fire Football Club’s Hall of Fame, known as the Ring of Fire, in April! Zach is a former Fire goalkeeper and current goalkeeper coach, and widely considered a legend in the program. The Ring of Fire honors the Club’s most impactful players, coaches and executives, celebrating their accomplishments as those who embody qualities of leadership, dedication and integrity.

Patriots Ryan Vest '21 (Maryland) and Ryan Fabriziani '22 (Auburn) caught up at the 2023 Music City Bowl in Nashville, TN! Both currently play tuba at their respective schools.

Allyson Carey Grieninger '08 was inducted into the Greater Baltimore Lacrosse Hall of Fame in January 2024. This induction now makes her eligible for the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame and is another well-deserved honor on her long, long list of accolades. As a player, Ally was 3x All-American at Vanderbilt University, holds four Gold Medals and was a member of the All-World Lacrosse team for USA. She is currently an Assistant Coach for the Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team at John Carroll. Go Patriots!

Carson Bulger ‘21, Jack Owen ‘21, Jackson Marindin ‘21 and the HCC Fighting Owls made history as the school's first NJCAA Men's Lacrosse National Champions! Once a Patriot, Always a Patriot — and now, champions!

Plus, Alex Stewart '21 and the Barton College Men’s Lacrosse team rallied to beat North Greenville to win the 2023 Conference Carolinas Championship! Alex is the freshman goalkeeper and tallied 10 saves in the final game.
